Sometimes we need a hiatus from dating. A “hiatus” is a break in something that normally has continuity. You may have heard this term used in conjunction with television shows: “The show is going on hiatus until shooting starts for next season.” That means the actors and crew are taking a break until work starts again.

Online dating, here I come. I figured “What do I have to lose?” At the absolute worst, I’d meet more of the same losers that I’d been meeting. At best, I’d meet someone that I was actually compatible with who could also relate to me.

Dating requires open and honest communication - why act and think of dialogues that are not your own. Similarly why think about lying? Be honest and open about everything. Talk as if you are talking to a good friend. Confidence should ooze out of every word you speak.

If you are married you obviously don’t need any advice on dating, but if you were I doubt you would be reading this article anyway. Not everyone is lucky enough to find that special someone to spend the rest of our lives with by chance. In fact most of us end up with the opposite, someone that isn’t really a true soul mate.

Well you’ve probably discovered these men are great at getting women drunk, but they’re doing nothing to help them get laid. By paying for a woman’s drink, they’re just making it easier for some other guy to pick her up.

Do everyone a favor and don’t date until you are absolutely sure that you can be serious with somebody. People go overboard with emotion and violence on a regular basis because of dishonest and foolhardy people messing with others emotions.

The shocking part of the situation was that one or more of the female captives were sympathetic with their captor and even admitted to consensual physical intimacy with him. Later, one of the women broke her engagement to her intended and became engaged to Olafson. Another woman started a defense fund for the robber’s legal defense.

Does any of this sound like you? Do you find yourself saying things like, “When God when?” Do you have regular pity parties where it’s usually you and one or two of your girlfriends agreeing with you that it’s him, not you?

My friend vehemently disagreed and said he refuses to send second emails to women. After all, he’s got “proof” it doesn’t work. He proceeded to pull up an email from one woman who responded to a second email with, “Don’t you get it? ‘No answer’ means ‘NO INTEREST’!”

This is why it’s important to first know which of your values and/or goals are negotiable and which ones aren’t. You may change your mind when someone presents a new perspective that makes you see things in a new light, but you shouldn’t feel a need to change your mind just because you’re afraid of what he or she may think or feel about you. Try to think win-win: find a compromise for you both get both of your needs or goals met.
